Stable Bleaching Powder (SBP) is manufactured by Chlorination of high-grade Hydrated Lime (Slaked Lime) using Liquid chlorine.
It decomposes on contact with water, releasing chlorine at the point of application. This makes it a strong oxidizing, bleaching and disinfecting agent.
It is used as a bleaching agent for cotton and linen in the garment industry, to bleach dirty clothes in the laundry. It is a powerful oxidizing agent hence used in many industries as an oxidizer.
It is used as a disinfectant to desinfect water and to make drinking water.
