Oxalic acid is an organic compound present in a large number of plants. These include leafy greens, bananas, beans, coffee, nuts and seeds . It is usually bonded to minerals in plants, forming oxalate. In nutrition science the terms “oxalic acid” and “oxalate” are used interchangeably.
