Diammonium Phosphate (D.A.P.) is used as a fertilizer. Once used as plant food. It slightly raises the pH value the soil, but after nitrification of the ammonium processed soil is more acidic in long term than before. May use D.A.P. as fire-retardant. It is the most popular phosphatic fertiliser because of its high nutrient content and good physical properties.
The composition of DAP is 18% Nitrogen and P2O5 46%. At the DAP plant, phosphoric acid and ammonia are reacted to form DAP. Diammonium phosphate is one of a series of water-soluble ammonium phosphate salts that can be produced when ammonia reacts with phosphoric acid.
